In the Photos app on your Mac, choose File New Smart Album. Choose your criteria in the dialogue that appears. You can set one condition or many. Choose a category for the condition: Choose an item from the condition’s first pop-up menu. For example, choose Photo to search for photos of a certain kind. Open the Photos app on your Mac and follow these steps to create your first Smart Album. 1) Click File New Smart Album from the menu bar. 2) Enter a Smart Album Name. 3) Select a type in the first drop-down box in the condition section.

Smart Albums can be very helpful for organizing your Mac photos. Just as you can create Smart Playlists in iTunes, you can sire Smart Albums in Photos based on specific criteria, such as keywords, photos you’ve rated highly, pictures taken with a particular camera, or the shutter speed. To create a Smart Album, follow these steps:
- Choose File → New Smart Album.
- In the dialog that appears, type a name, just as you do for a regular album.
- Select the conditions that must be met for pictures to be included in the Smart Album.
Click the + button to add criteria or the – button to remove criteria. As new pictures are imported into your library, those that match these conditions are added to the Smart Album automatically.
