I have spent countless hours looking for a non-vmware solution for 64bit compatibility on windows 8 and windows 10. I have found it, it's an all in one executable that installed Inpa 5.0.6, BMW Coding Tool, Ediabas, NCSExpert and other tools, with SP-Daten integrated Verified connectivity and it's working on my e39 m5.

There is almost no differences between INPA Ediabas 5.0.2 and INPA 5.0.6.Update and script files are the one that matters.

The biggest difference is that INPA 5.0.6 is less translated from the German language

There is no English version of5.0.6, 70% is in German

INPA 5.0.6 supports F series, m54 and n54 engine

The latest English metric scripts for INPA are from INPA version 5.0.2. INPA 5.0.6 does not include any scripts.

INPA 5.0.2 did not include a script for the MEVD17.2 DME

INPA 5.0.6:

  • MSD80 / MSD81 fuel injector volume calibration
  • Display ZF 6HP automatic gearbox control unit (TCU) analog values (gearbox fluid temperature, turbine speed, etc.)
  • Display the UIF (User Information Field) data for all installed modules
  • Display the name, SGBD file, group file, and part number for all installed modules
  • Display plant, dealer, and backup integration levels

INPA 5.0.6 limitation:

  • MSD80/MSD81 DME boost pressure control (E90->Engine->MSD80-><F5>status analog/digital-><Shift>+<F4>boost pressure control) and intake pipe model (E90->Engine->MSD80-><F5>status analog/digital-><Shift+<F1>intake pipe model) menus do not work correctly, E90 German language development script required (outside the scope of this DIY)
  • MEVD17.2 DME and N55 engine not supported, E90 German language development script required (outside the scope of this DIY)
  • DDE 7.3 and M57 engine not supported, E90 German language development script required (outside the scope of this DIY)
  • GS40 DCT gearbox control unit (TCU) not supported, German language development script required (outside the scope of this DIY)
  • 2009+ electronic fuel pump control module (EKPM3) not supported (P/N 7276383), F30 German language development script required (outside the scope of this DIY)
  • Language variant and version mismatch errors will be displayed and can be safely ignored. When you integrate the German metric ECU description files and group files from the SP Daten, the language variants do not match and the ECU description files are newer than anticipated.

Cars prior to 03/2007 still used K-line. Then BMW switched to DCAN. Therefore DCan cable does not work E9X-s prior to 03/2007 and vise verca. DCAN is fast CAN. There are cables(K+Dcan) with both protocols, such as the switch-mode K+DCAN cable.

Inpa 5.0.2 Windows 10 Update

1) Before using this equipment, keep the battery of notebook fully charged to avoid battery broken. Don’t charge the battery while diagnosing (the charger may interfere with diagnosis). Before charging, discharge the battery. You may knock down the battery and connect the power line during long time diagnosing. To make sure the battery life. 2) While testing, make sure the diagnostic lines well connected.
3) Be sure to start diagnosing after all icons on bottom right of screen displayed regularly.
4) After finished diagnosing, back the screen to the main interface, then shut down the key and pull out the connector.
5) Don’t cut the power or connector during test.
Don’t touch the high temperature components in carriage during test.
