DESCRIPTIONUp for sale is a fantastic 1982 four digit serial Hamer Standard in its original black finish. The holy grail of the Hamer line, this Standard features dual humbucker pickups (zebra and double cream), aftermarket Kahler tremolo unit and locking nut, bound body and bound neck, dot inlays and German Schaller tuners. The younger models are labeled 'Hamer' with 'XT-Series' underneath the Hamer logo. IIRC, the 'XT Series' are not Korean, but of Chinese/Indonesian origin. I was told directly from the guy who handled Hamer's import line that the serial numbers assigned have nothing at all to do with the year, and that was not a reliable way to date your guitar. A Note on Hamer Serial Numbers. In 1974 Hamer used a four digit number stamped into the wood starting with guitar #0000 and, until the launch of the Sunburst, this system was used on all guitars.

Hamer had two serial number systems: Four Digit serials and the standard production serials. Four Digit serials started with '0000' (Rick Nielsen's sunburst Standard) and ran to about 0750 between 12/74 and 1985. The production numbers started in 1977 with the introduction of the Sunburst model '7 0000'. The serial numbering sequence by decade is indicated below: 1970s: 7 0001 – 9 1450 1980s: 0 1451 – 9 s: 0 24193 – 9 s: 0 50156 – present. Hamer catalogs and pricelists.
